How to answer “How do you use AI in your current role?” in an interview

During your next interview, you might be asked, "How do you use AI in your current role?" Here are a few different ways to answer this question.

1. Productivity and performance:

Is your company requiring you to use Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude in your day-to-day activities? Are you expected to track and demonstrate how these AI tools make your work faster or easier or simpler to complete? Talk about this process in the interview. Mention how your KPIs and task metrics improved. Bonus points if you can tell an interesting story about how the AI tools made you more creative in your work.

2. Implementation:

Has leadership instructed you to implement AI tools and track their usage among your team? Bring up your team's pre-AI workflows and post-AI workflows, and share how you guided the team during the transition. Mention how velocity improved or how project delays were reduced. Tell a story about an unexpected improvement or solution that arose within the team.
